Paradise Seeds, the seeds of paradise
The owner of Paradise Seeds has his own name, Luc. Specifically, Luc Krol, a Dutchman with a reputation of good guy and fun, founded Paradise Seeds in 1994. A fanatic of the Cannabis plant with which I feel identified, because he had the first contact with marijuana when he saw the first specimen grown in the garden of his parents’ house, something that I also lived in first person, but with the hashish that my parents used in their free time.
From that moment on Luc knew he had found the passion of his life, and it was not something that was fashionable, far from it. It was the early 80’s and little was known about the Cannabis plant, it was almost impossible to obtain seeds, let alone good quality ones. Normally, these seeds were imported by people who went on trips to remote places and you had to be a good friend of one of them to get one as a gift, or of course, to travel yourself.
But this was not an impediment for Luc to get cannabis seeds to start making his first selections and crosses, which, after hard work, have reached the top of the cannabis scene worldwide, winning numerous awards in the most prestigious global competitions, such as the HTCC.
History of Paradise Seeds
The history of Paradise Seeds goes back a long way. Although the seed bank, as we have already mentioned, was officially founded in 1994, by that time its growers had already been experimenting with genetics, growing techniques and hybridization of Cannabis varieties for 12 years, which is not long to say.
These experiments arose mainly from the moment, back in the ’80s, when marijuana seeds from distant places and also from the USA began to enter Amsterdam. This fact revolutionized the Dutch scene, which until then consisted of only one option, hashish of dubious quality, sold in coffee shops.
The people of Paradise Seeds were involved from the beginning in this search for new genetics and higher quality. They had the objective to create varieties that stood out, on the one hand, for their growth, with more height than the usual plants of that time, and, on the other hand, that offered a better taste, sweeter and more intense.
Soon they were able to open their first store in Amsterdam and there they began to market the new strains they had created. And so, little by little, Paradise Seeds strains were distributed around the world, since the clientele was not only local, but among those who frequented the store there were many foreigners, attracted to Amsterdam by the excellent reputation of the seeds obtained there.
This natural development of what began as an experiment to supply marijuana to their own store, ended in what we know today as the Paradise Seeds seed bank.
Paradise Seeds Philosophy
The Paradise Seeds team has always been committed to the quality of their seeds. This is translated, mainly, in two concepts: on the one hand, they produce all their seeds in an ecological way without the use of chemical or harmful products for the environment. On the other hand, in their breeding and hybridization process they pay special attention to pollination. Why is this stage so important? Because it is the way to avoid “contaminations” and to guarantee the best quality of the seeds.
For this reason, Paradise Seeds’ pollination areas have all the necessary safety measures to avoid interference of pollen from unwanted males in the selected stock. Among these measures there are, for example, pollen filters in each of the cultivation rooms, as well as a careful calendarization of the pollination that allows to reduce to the maximum the possible risks.
But its quality process does not stop there. In addition, once the seeds have been produced, a careful manual selection is made in which all those that show signs of immaturity or fertility problems are discarded. And then, once this screening has been done, they proceed to study their viability and germination.
Thanks to these meticulous processes, Paradise Seeds ensures the germination of 95% of its seeds (provided that this is done in suitable growing conditions).
After several years of work, it can be said today that Paradise Seeds has a solid base of recognitions and international prizes at the highest level. These winning varieties also represent a treasure on which to work and develop new genetics, with special emphasis on the aroma of their plants.

Paradise Seeds varieties are mainly autoflowering and feminized. They also offer a line of regular seeds, however, the latter is not very popular in Spain.
