How Was White Russian Created?
Simon, always striving to push cannabis strains to new levels, decided to cross the successful AK-47 with an exceptional White Widow he came across. This union gave birth to White Russian.
Effects of White Russian
Although many years have passed since its creation, White Russian remains one of the strongest Indica strains available. When it was first bred, 150 different strains were grown in a greenhouse, and with a THC content of 22%, White Russian was the most potent plant of them all.
However, you might be thinking, “Well, that was decades ago; surely it’s become just another strain by now.” Nothing could be further from the truth—Simon is very dedicated to his work, and his strains remain well-maintained and in great shape.
This is proven by many top commercial growers who continue to rely on White Russian in their growing spaces. For instance, the famous Cloudz recently carried out a test with it.
Growing White Russian
The White Russian strain is robust and easy to grow. It’s small in size, and its flowers are very compact. Under optimal conditions, it produces flowers from its base to the top, with no part of the plant going to waste.
Serious Seeds reports that only 5-15 days of vegetative growth may be enough to achieve the best results with White Russian. After this short period, an intense and pleasant aroma starts to emerge from the small plants, and from early on, the abundance of terpenes becomes noticeable.
During cultivation, White Russian can produce two phenotypes: one more compact, almost as dense as its parent White Widow, and the other slightly less dense but with greater height. However, the differences between them are slight, as this is a very stable cross.
White Russian can reach a medium height, which is slightly tall for an Indica. These seeds produce robust, dense plants with highly resinous flowers. In fact, crystals start appearing from the 5th week of flowering.
The recommended flowering period is 56 to 63 days, though experienced enthusiasts know that this can vary depending on personal preferences. According to the well-known grower Cloudz, it may be worth giving it an extra week. Yes, it’s a long time for such an Indica variety, but the extra time can enhance resin and aroma production.
White Russian Effects
The effects of any type of cannabis are always somewhat subjective, depending on the person consuming it and their physical and mental state. That’s why cannabis effect descriptions are always approximate or based on the most common experiences, but they aren’t guaranteed to be the same for everyone.
White Russian marijuana produces very potent flowers with resin-coated calyxes. This resin can contain up to 22% THC, making it extremely powerful. Tasters describe its high as intense and long-lasting. Surprisingly for such an Indica-dominant strain, it’s both cerebral and narcotic.

Specifically, it has won several editions of cannabis cups for Best Indica in some of the most renowned cannabis competitions worldwide, such as the HTTC.
